EAMCET 2014 APPLICATION FEE MAY BE HIKED
Hyderabad: EAMCET application fee may be hiked from this year. EAMCET committee is indicating that the application fee hike is inevitable as there is increase in maintenance costs. Till previous year, the application fee was Rs. 250 and the committee and higher education department is studying the option of increasing the fee to Rs. 300. EAMCET committee is going to meet on February 4th in which it will be discussed whether to exempt reservation category candidates from paying the increased fee and so on. It will also be discussed in the meeting about EAMCET qualifying marks, ranking and other things.
Nearly 4.20 lakh candidates are likely to appear for EAMCET this year. In 2013, 3.90 candidates appeared for the exam. EAMCET 2013 was conducted in 575 exam centres and this year these will be increased to 600. Agriculture and Medical candidates were assigned 125 exam centres and this year these will be increased to 140. Hyderabad was divided into 4 zones in 2013 and this year it will be divided into 8 zones. Care will also be taken to assign nearby exam centres to candidates to avoid transport problems.
Revaluation fee is also to be decided in the meeting that will be held on February 4. It was decided to make the EAMCET OMR answer sheets available online and this will be officially announced after the meeting. This will improve transparency, said EAMCET convener N V Ramana Rao. Rs. 200 will be charged for OMR revaluation for SC/ST candidates and Rs. 500 for other category candidates. It is also expected that Rs. 400 will be charged for revaluation and for providing Xerox copy of the answer sheets to SC/ST candidates and Rs. 1000 for others category candidates. All the above things will be decided in the meeting.
EAMCET 2014 date is May 17. Notification is expected to be released on February 10. Results of the exam will be announced on June 9.
